CLARITY: THE FIRST STEP IN TURNING YOUR VISIONS INTO REALITY

It was 1961. The Soviets had just put a man in space. The US was falling further and further behind. The goal was to catch up and overtake the Soviet Union in the “Space Race”. President John F Kennedy delivered a landmark speech to a Joint Session of Congress. In the speech JFK committed to putting a man on the moon by the end of the decade.

The problem was that NASA had no idea how to do it!

Between 1961 and 1969 NASA had built a plan and executed it and in July 1969 Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin made history by walking on the moon.

Most business owners have great ideas and visions and they are ambitious.

What they lack is clarity and lack of clarity creates chaos.

They procrastinate, chase the wrong clients and are easily distracted by shiny objects. They simply react to what’s right in front of them. They are either directionless or feel stuck and unfulfilled or, worst of all, BOTH!.

Clarity is The First Step in Turning Your Dreams into a vision and your vision Into Reality.

That’s why in our Luxury Service Model the first phase is helping our clients develop an elevated level of clarity.

There are 3 keys to achieving CLARITY.

Whether you are NASA, a multi billion company or a driven luxury business owner, you all need to implement these 3 steps to be successful:

  1. You need to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve
  2. You need clear goals
  3. You need a plan

Let’s take the JFK story as an example of how the three keys work and how you can use them to turn your own vision into reality.

The First step. An inspiring vision can mobilize an entire country or in your case your whole organization. The more vivid the picture, the more people can touch it, feel it, and breathe it, and the more inspired they will be. You need a vision of your success. The vision needs to be so clear that you and your team can share it, understand it and commit to it.

We often ask our clients a question that allows them to connect with their vision. That question is: “If there were no limitations or consequences, what would you want to happen in your business in the next 12 months?”

Questions like this are powerful because they activate your desires, your inner wisdom and creativity.

Albert Einstein once said, “If I have a problem to solve in an hour, I spend 55 minutes asking questions and the last 5 minutes on the solution.”

We invite you to take the same approach to your visioning process.

Step two. Walt Disney said, if you can dream it you can achieve it. This statement is inspiring; but, not entirely true because very often your dreams, ideas and visions stay dreams. You need clear goals to serve as the GPS system for your business.

Then, if you really want to accomplish these dreams you must write them down. Until you do that all they are your fantasies.

Your Goals & Desires Help You Turn Your Thoughts Into Visions and Your Visions into reality.

Did you know that 60% of all people who write down their goals accomplish them. Your likelihood of success increases by 6 times when you have your goals written.

Most people don’t take this simple step. They just keep their goals in their head and are frustrated when they don’t see results.

The third step – Planning is telling a story and making it come true.

Your goals and vision are the story; your plan is how you will make them happen.

For NASA, planning was taking the story of putting a man on the moon and making it come true. So, how can you implement their steps to build your success plan?

  1. Like in NASA, work backwards from the vision to achieving your goal.
  2. Perform a Gap analysis: compare your vision of the desired end result to your present reality.
  3. What systems, structures, teams, skills, capabilities, support do you need or need to upgrade to accomplish your goals?

      4. Next identify the obstacles that could happen along the way while having the confidence and faith that you would ultimately find the answers.

      4. Outline a plan on how to make the story come true; start with an outline and fill in the blanks as you go along.

As Robert Quinn once said, “Build the bridge as you walk on it”.

This last point is an important one. You cannot wait to have all the i’s dotted and t’s crossed before you get started.

Many business owners wait for all the green lights to line up before they make a decision. But, as John Maxwell said, “If you wait for all the lights to turn green, you’ll never leave the driveway.”
