There are a number of women that I know that have their dream business. I can tell, because I have my dream business too! I want you to know that achieving this goal is no longer out of your reach. In this amazing new article this week, I am going to share with you a few steps you can take to make this dream a reality.
1. WHAT DO YOU LOVE?
Do you remember when you were a child, how you would dream of being a great pianist, baker, singer, or maybe a lawyer? There were skills and talents that came to us naturally. Throughout our young years, the love for those talents grew.
But, as life would have it, we became adults. We started to believe that those passions would not get us anywhere, or we did not get the support we needed to make it blossom. That is when your passion begins to die.
I believe that these talents have great potential for you to create a business that can start up with little to no effort. Why? Because you are operating at our highest self. You get so much joy doing this simple task, yet, when it is executed, you WOW your family, friends and audience. This is your element!
So, I want you to take a few minutes to think right now. What do you love to do
2. CULTIVATE THE IDEA.
This is your discovery phase. You should ask questions and plan at this point. Take a survey with your closest friends and family members.
Ask them what they think you are great at.
What is that “thing” that stands out about you in every response?
What do they say that you do better than anyone else with little effort.
That will be a clear indication of the direction you should be heading.
Once it is clear, then start to cultivate the idea. Do some research and discover who are the top players in that industry. Identify the top three players who reside in your area. Follow their pages. Look at what is working for them. Look for the top trends in the space. Begin to see what is possible for you. Then start to cultivate the idea with a clear business plan.
3. DREAM CLIENTS MAKE THE DREAM BUSINESS BOOM.
Set yourself a target to get at least five (5) clients. You can work for a minimal fee for starters in order to get testimonials. You would use those testimonials to build your portfolio. After a few completed services (or products) you would prove your idea and gain the confidence to go after higher level dream clients. These are the clients who:
- Believe in your product/service
- Promote you to their friends, family, and colleagues
- Don’t ask for discounts or favors
- Pay what you are worth
At this point you are ready to scale.
4. SUSTAINING YOUR PURPOSE.
You can have a booming business, but sometimes it becomes difficult to sustain it. This can happen for a few reasons, however, the number one reason is because of burnout. Being the owner of your new business often comes with the fact that you are operating in every level of the business. For one person, this great responsibility can become overwhelming. If it continues for an extended period of time, you may begin to resent the business, and sustaining the excitement of your purpose will die. It would be a shame for that to happen.
I would suggest, at your first opportunity, to hire help, starting with a Virtual Assistant. This would remove the daily tasks that stop you from focusing on the creative aspects of the business. In my previous article, I shared some of the tasks that VA’s handle.
You would see how much your time would be regained. You are now more free to keep doing what you love, without worrying about the little things.
5. MARVEL AT THE END RESULT.
Now you are able to see growth. I often sit and marvel at where I was when I started my business, where I am now. I am doing what I love, cultivating my ideas, working with my dream clients, and sustaining my purpose. Indeed it was a learning process.
I HAVE MY DREAM BUSINESS AND YOU CAN HAVE IT TOO!
